Sample Itinerary

This sample itinerary is designed for those who do not have unlimited holiday time. It covers the most important sights and experiences of this part of India.  If you prefer a slower pace, we will be happy to prepare a special trip for you. The Indian sub-continent offers infinite depths of experience for the explorer, as well as a range of delightful leisure activities.
 

Day 1: Arrive Delhi (early AM): Clear Immigration and Customs. A High Points representative will be waiting for you outside the arrival hall. He/ She will be holding a “High Points Of India” placard. Transfer to hotel. PM: Half day guided city tour of Old and New Delhi. Drive past the elegant India Gate, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and Parliament House. Visit the Qutub Minar, Red Fort, and the Jama Masjid. 
Day 2: Delhi - Manali : Early morning transfer to Delhi airport. The flight to the Bhunter airstrip in the Kulu valley is aboard a small aircraft, and will take apx. 2 hours. On arrival at Bhunter you will be met and driven through the picturesque valley for about 1.5 hrs to the highland town of Manali. PM: Walking tour of the village of Old Manali. 
Day 3 & 4: Manali: On these days we will explore several villages and towns in the Kulu - Manali area, including Nagar, famous for its quaint castle-hotel and its ancient temples. We may also make an excursion to the Rohtang Pass (apx. 13,000 ft.), gateway to the barren moonscapes of Lahaul, Spiti and Ladakh.

Day 5: Manali-Palampur: AM: Half-day drive through pretty valleys and colorful small towns to Palampur. Here we shall stay at the Taragarh Palace, now a hotel owned and managed by the family of the Maharajah of Kashmir.

Day 6 & 7 : Palampur:
On these days we will visit the neighboruing towns of Dharamsala ( headquarters of the Dalai Lama in exile), the Jwalamukhi and Baijnath temples, and the quaint old town of Kangra.


Day 8: Palampur - Chandigarh: Today we have a day-long drive across the foothills of the Himalayas, to Chandigarh. Here we will stop for the night, enroute to Delhi. 
Day 9 (AM): Chandigarh-Delhi: Early morning transfer tlo Chandigarh airport for the flight to Delhi. Met on arrival and, if time permits, proceed for an excursion around Delhi. Return to the Delhi airport in time for your onward flight.
